Holland Pastorale, Norway, and was married to Miss Mattie GRAU at Christiana, Norway, April 13, 1868, coming to America the following June. To this union eight children were born, four girls and four boys - Mrs. J.A. TRAINER of Cairo, W. Va.; Mrs. C.F. DAFFER of Lyons, Neb.; Mrs. H.B. MARSHALL, Burnsville, W. Va.; Mrs. Guy COOK, Denver, Colo.; George of Niobrara, Neb.; Fred of Newcastle, Neb., and Edwin and Oscar of Blair. All the children were present at the funeral, which occurred on Friday, June 28, at 2 o'clock p.m., at the Episcopal church, service conducted by the Rev. MARSH. Edwin GILBERTSON, former Blair farmer who was well known here, passed away Tuesday at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. His death followed a paralytic stroke suffered seven years ago while still living here, an illness from which he was never able to rally and which kept him bedfast most of the time for the past two and one-half years. He had been at the hospital five days prior to his death. Ed GILBERTSON was born June 11, 1876 on a farm in the Rose Hill district northwest of Blair. He was one of eight children. On September 16, 1903 he was married to Miss Esther JENSEN and the couple devoted their lives to farming. For ten years they farmed in the Rose Hill district and then moved to a farm near Blair, just north of Dana College. They lived for seven years in a brick house which was then located east of the Dana College campus, the present Dana athletic field having been a part of the GILBERTSON farm. After selling the land and house to Dana College, Mr. and Mrs. GILBERTSON built a new set of farm buildings just north of the college which became a show place on the road between Blair and Herman. They continued to live there until Mr. GILBERTSON's stroke in 1947. Michael SONDERUPs now occupy the farm. An ardent Democrat, Mr. GILBERTSON was keenly interested in politics and he took an active part in most of the elections during his younger years. WILSON (nee GILBERTSON) , age 97, of Hilton Head Island, NC peacefully joined our Lord on February 22, 2009 after a brief illness. Born February 17, 1912 in Blair, NE she enjoyed her early years with family in a rural setting. She had many fond memories of those times with family and friends. After meeting the love of her life, Waldo, she married and moved to Joliet and raised her family. She was an accomplished musician and artist. She loved the piano and shared her love of music with Waldo. She also loved to paint and sent many friends and family handmade greeting cards. Despite her small size, Charlotte possessed a heart full of life. Her smile was bright enough to light up any room. She was happiest and most "contented" when simply spending time with family and friends. She taught grade school in Omaha and Joliet for 40 years, retiring in 1976. Preceded in death by her husband Waldo (1996), her parents, two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by Leigh (Kris) of Thailand, Warren (Karen) of Hilton Head, SC, and Kent (Ruth) of Forestville, CA. Visitation for Charlotte will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 9am-10am with a service to follow at the funeral home with Rev. Roy BACKUS, First Presbyterian Church, Morris officiating. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her memory to Hospice Care of America, 460 William Hilton Parkway, Suite F1, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. (843)785-5901 would be appreciated.
