Synopsis:
Dodge and Washington Counties (History), pp. 821-822. Mrs. Mary M. SIEKKOTTER, a resident of Blair, is a daughter of the late Soren JENSEN, long prominently identified with the agricultural community of Washington Co. Mrs. SIEKKOTTER's first husband was John REEH, whose citizenship in Washington Co also deserves some reference on these pages. John REEH was born in Germany in 1870 [sic], and the following year his parents brought him to the United States. The family were early settlers in Washington Co, and his father was an honored resident of Blair at the time of his death. John REEH took up the vocation of farming and acquired and managed some important interests in Washington Co. He was a man of good judgment, successful and a highly esteemed friend and neighbor. He died in 1903. He was a member of the German Lutheran Church and the Modern Woodmen of America. Mrs. SIEKKOTTER by her marriage to John REEH had three children: Lyle, employed in the State Bank of Blair; Blanche, a successful teacher in the schools of Tekamah, Nebraska, and Odella, who graduated from the Blair High School in 1920. In 1905, Mrs. John REEH was married to Mr. Charles SIEKKOTTER of Blair. Mr. SIEKKOTTER was the owner of some extensive and valuable farming lands in Sarpey [sic] Co, Nebraska, and managed that property until his death, which occurred in 1908. Mr. and Mrs. SIEKKOTTER had one daughter, Gladys, now attending school. Mr. SIEKKOTTER was a member of the Lutheran Church, and his widow and children are members of the Baptist faith. In politics he was republican. The parents of Mrs. SIEKKOTTER, Soren and Anna Sina (JENSEN) [Note: Should be PETERSEN] JENSEN, were both natives of Denmark. They came to the United States when young people, settled at Omaha, and when most of eastern Nebraska was still a wilderness they located on a homestead in Washington Co. Her father became of the well-to-do farmers of the region and spent his last years in comfort and the enjoyment of the fruits of his early trials and labors. He died in 1917, and his widow is still living, and including them and their children and grandchildren there are now a hundred descendants of this worthy couple of Danish pioneers in Washington Co. Soren Jensen was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church and a democrat in politics.
Mary M. JENSEN married John REEH, born Germany 1870, farmer whose family settled in Washington Co; he died in 1903, was a member of the German Lutheran Church, and Modern Woodmen of America. Three children: Lyle, employed at Blair State Bank; Blanche taught school in Tekamah, NE; and Odella graduated from Blair High in 1920. Mary M. REEH married 1905 Charles SIEKKOTER of Blair. He died in 1908. They had one child, Gladys. Mary M. JENSEN was the daughter of Soren and Anna Sina (JENSEN*) JENSEN. (*Incorrect – should be PETERSEN). Source: RUSS, Rev. Wm. Obituary. Blair Enterprise, 29 Dec 1949. Mary VOSS PETERSEN Dies On Coast. Member of Well Known Soren JENSEN Family Stricken Suddenly. Mrs. Mary VOSS PETERSEN, a member of the well known family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Soren JENSEN, passed away suddenly in Long Beach, California last Friday afternoon. Attending physicians attribute the death to an acute heart attack. Mrs. PETERSEN was born at Blair January 19th, 1877. She would have been 73 years of age next month. She was one of the family of thirteen born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Soren JENSEN. She lived in this vicinity many years and most of her surviving sisters and brothers are still residents here. On June 17, 1895, she was married to John REEH, well known farmer of this county and to this union three children were born. A son, Lyle, died a number of years ago. The daughters were Blanche, now Mrs. Fred VOSS, of Millard, and Odella, now Mrs. Peter DIESTAL, of Hohokus, New Jersey. On May 26th, 1903, during an electrical storm, Mr. REEH was struck by lightning and killed while standing in the doorway of the barn on his farm. On February 22, 1905, Mrs. REEH became the bride of Charles SIEKKOTTER and to this union a daughter, Gladys, was born. She is now Mrs. Dee WILKINS of Long Beach, California. Tragedy again entered the life of Mrs. SIEKKOTTER, her husband suffering injuries about the head while seeding grain late in 1907. He developed lockjaw and passed away October 7th, 1907. On October 28th, 1924, Mrs. SIEKKOTTER was married to Adolph VOSS, of Millard, Nebraska and for many years she made her home in that vicinity. Later, Mr. and Mrs. VOSS moved to Long Beach, California where they spent the winters, returning frequently, however, to the Millard and Blair vicinities where they had many friends. Mr. VOSS passed away May 17, 1947. In October, 1948, Mrs. VOSS was married to Ingwar PETERSEN, of Long Beach and the couple had made their home there much of the time since their marriage. Services were held at Long Beach Monday and the body will arrive at the Campbell mortuary in Blair today. Services will be held at Millard Friday and burial will be made on the family lot in Blair cemetery later in the day. A brother, Albert A. JENSEN of Millard, who had recently gone to California to spend Christmas with Mrs. PETERSEN, arrived but a few hours after her death. Surviving besides her husband and daughters and their families are four brothers and two sisters. They are Nels M. JENSEN, Ed A. JENSEN, Henry JENSEN, of Blair and Albert A. JENSEN, of Millard. The sisters: Mrs. Henry VOSS (Myrtle), of Blair and Mrs. Ed GILBERTSON (Esther) of Lincoln. There are five surviving grandchildren. They are Bonnie and Shirley VOSS, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Fred VOSS, of Millard and Gladys, Peter and John DISTAL, children of Mr. and Mrs. Peter DIESTAL, of New Jersey. Pall bearers will be nephews of the deceased. They will be John VOSS, Robert JENSEN, Merton JENSEN, Merton KUHR, Stanley JENSEN and Harland JENSEN. Mrs. PETERSEN was a woman of superior ability, raising and managing her family and personal affairs well despite the numerous tragedies which became her lot. Loved by all who knew her, she had a keen sense of humor and understanding, a quick wit and a cheerful, happy disposition. She was one who could overcome adversities and pick the better and happier things of life as each day came.

Synopsis:
Obituary. Blair Enterprise, 6 Dec 1928. Lyle REEH Passes Away. Former Blair Man is Victim of Flu Which is Prevalent in California. Body Will Be Brought to Blair for Interment. Popular In Blair Circles. Word was received in Blair last Saturday evening of the death of Lyle R. REEH, of Los Angeles, California of that dread disease, the flu, which has been causing so much sorrow and concern in the Pacific coast states this fall. He had been ill but a short time but could not rally, having previously had a sick spell which left him less able to fight off the attack. The body is now on its way to Blair and funeral services will be held here probably Saturday afternoon or Sunday as arrangements have not yet been made pending the arrival of relatives on Friday morning. It was the wish of Lyle's mother that Rev. C.M. FORMAN of South Dakota, former Baptist minister here, who baptized Lyle, might be gotten here to conduct the funeral services but he has advised that he will be unable to come, so no other plans have been made awaiting their arrival. The deceased was born near Blair in 1897 and lived on the farm for a number of years. His father, John REEH, was struck by lightning when Lyle was a child. After coming to Blair, Lyle graduated from the high school and worked in the State Bank for some time. As he was passionately fond of music, he gathered together an orchestra and after banking hours, would answer all engagements to play around Blair and vicinity and he was greatly missed by the social set after he moved to the coast. He was married about three years ago to Miss Lola SKINKLE of Omaha and went at once to Los Angeles where he secured a good position in a bank at Owensmouth, a suburb of Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Adolph VOSS, of Los Angeles; three sisters, Gladys, Mrs. W.D. WILKINS of Long Beach, Calif; Odella, Mrs. Peter DIESTAL, of Omaha, and Blanche, Mrs. Fred VOSS of Millard, Nebr., besides a host of relatives and friends who regret the loss of one who had so promising a future and so young in years. He was a member of Stanley E. Hain post of the American Legion having been in the navy during the World War, stationed at the Great Lakes Training Station but never going abroad. Blair friends extend sympathy to the relatives who are mourning the loss of their dear one.
Obituary. Blair Pilot-Tribune, 6 Dec 1928. Lyle REEH Expires. Dies in California After Short Illness of Flu. Relatives in this city last Saturday received word of the death of Lyle REEH which occurred at a hospital in Glendale, Calif., that afternoon shortly after 5:00 o'clock. His death followed a short illness of the flu. The deceased was born on a farm three miles south of Blair on March 21, 1897, and lived in Washington county the greater part of his life. He was graduated from the Blair high school and later accepted a position with the Blair State Bank where he worked until about three years ago when he and his wife moved to Glendale. His marriage to Miss Leola SKINKLE took place about three years ago. Since moving to California he had been employed with a bank at Glendale. He held a wide acquaintance in this community and was highly thought of by a large circle of friends. For a number of years he was a member of the Blair league ball team. The body is being shipped to Blair and will arrive here tomorrow afternoon. As yet no definite funeral arrangements have been made but relatives state the services will be conducted on Saturday or Sunday. Surviving him are his bereaved wife, his mother, Mrs. A.H. VOSS of Long Beach, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Fred VOSS, jr., of Millard and Mrs. P.A. DIESTEL of Omaha, and a half-sister, Mrs. Dee WILKINS, of Fontana, Calif.
