Synopsis:
Obituary. Blair Tribune. Andrew E. JEPPESEN. 14 Oct 1908. Andrew JASPERSEN [sic] was taken to the hospital at Omaha to undergo an operation for pus on the brain. We heard on the streets yesterday that the operation had been performed and that the doctors found water on the brain and that Mr. JASPERSON [sic] would soon be home with his family and everybody will be glad. 21 Oct 1908 A.E. JEPPERSON [sic] of Kennard, who was operated on at an Omaha hospital, died Saturday evening. The body was taken to Kennard Sunday for burial. Mr. JEPPERSON [sic] was thirty years old and married. 23 Oct 1908. Andrew JEEPESEN Answered Call. It is with hearts subdued, and feelings of profoundest sympathy for the bereaved family that we are gathered here this afternoon, to give Christian burial to the mortal remains of our well-known and highly esteemed fellow citizen, Andrew E. JEPPESEN, who entered upon this life October 1st, 1878, and fell asleep in death in St. Joseph's hospital, Omaha October 17th, 1908, aged 30 years and 16 days. A man of splendid physique, robust constitution; excellent health with apparently a strong hold on life, up to the beginning of July this year, when it became known that he was seriously afflicted. Since then everything the best medical skill could advise, or loving hearts and hands do, has been done against the disease a hard battle was fought. But today a loving wife, five children, an aged father and mother, one sister, with many relatives, friends, and neighbors mourn and weep his early translation to the life beyond the tomb. In early life Mr. JEPPERSEN [sic] was baptized and confirmed in the faith and privileges of the gospel of Jesus Christ, by the Lutheran church; and from that ever precious gospel we today draw that comfort and consolation; and rest our hopes for the better life which enables us to sorrow not, even as others who have no hope for Jesus Christ, the world's Redeemer has spoken saying, I am the Resurrection and the Life, whosoever believeth in me shall never die. To the home under the shadow of this sore bereavement of husband and father. This aged father and mother with the sister under the sense of great personal loss of only son and brother, we extend our profoundest sympathy and pray that in this dark hour, the light of God's love may beam upon your hearts, and that your souls may be filled with sweet, sufficient, sustaining grace. Multitudes which none can number, Like the stars in glory stand, Clothed in white apparel, holding Palms of victory in their hands. A.J.W. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A.J. WARNE officiating and paying a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased. The casket was covered with the most beautiful floral designs loving fingers ever wrought. The music rendered was such as to soften all hearts and moisten all eyes. At the close of the services one of the largest funeral processions ever witnessed in Kennard followed the funeral car to our silent city. Cark to Thanks - Words cannot express the sense of gratitude we have for Dr. PRUNER, Mr. A.F. SCHAFE, M.E. choir, the pastor and many friends for floral offerings and all those to tendered so freely their valuable aid and sympathy in the sickness and death of our dear one. Mrs. A.E. JEPPESEN and family. Infor provided by Dixie LAMBERT, Sextion at Kennard Cemetery - Aug. 22, 2015.

She leaves one full brother, Soren JENSEN, of this city, one half sister, Mrs. Jorgen JORGENSEN, of Omaha, and two half brothers, Anton JENSEN, of Magnolia, Ia., and George JOHNSON, of Waterloo, Neb.

Her husband, John FROM, died a number of years ago and since that time she has boarded with different friends, making her home with Mrs. ELLISEN, in Dexterville, at the time of her death. She has one son, Peter, his whereabouts not known, but when his mother last heard of him, he was in the state of Wyowing [sic]. Obituary. Find-A-Grave. Feb 1919. James William JEPPESEN was born April 12, 1900 at the farm home 2 miles west of Kennard. Died at the home of Henry GRAFF at Seward, Neb. James was attending the University State Farm at Lincoln and going to visit a friend at Seward on Saturday and was suddenly taken ill in the evening. He became unconscious on the following day and remained so until death. He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, a step-father, three sisters and one brother. All were at his bedside at the time of his death. His father preceded him 10 years ago last October. So many have spoken words of praise of this young man that we scarcely know what virtues or tributes here to pay him. The gorgeous display of the floral designs contributed from the school children and his many, many friends speak louder than words. The funeral services were conducted from the M.E. Church, scripture was found in St. Luke 22:42--"Not my will, but thine be done." It was a large funeral considering it was while the worst snow storm in 20 years. Card of Thanks. We wish in this way to extend our deepest thanks to our friends and neighbors, who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our beloved son and brother. Thanks to the? and comforting words, the choir and for the many beautiful floral offerings. We expecially wish to thank those who helped clear the roads of snow. Mr. & Mrs. Hans JORGENSEN and family.

Find-A-Grave. Jens "James" CORNELIUS was born in Nebraska to Ole (Ollie) and Mary FROM (FROHM). Ole, a Norwegian immigrant, and Mary, a native Nebraskan, were married in Washington County, Nebraska the year before he was born, he being their oldest known child. Jens' mother died in 1910 when he was but a teen, and it seems he remained in Nebraska long enough to win the heart of Katherine Caroline MEYER, who was the daughter of German immigrants Paul MEYER and Emma KELLERMAN. Thus, the two of them were wed on June 6, 1923 in Washington County, Nebraska. Sometime prior to 1930, James and Katherine relocated to Sonoma, California. Their daughter, Mary Katherine, was born in Sonoma, California on June 5, 1928, and she appears to have been their only child. The CORNELIUS family permanently made their home in the city of Sonoma. Katherine's father apparently relocated with them sometime after the death of his wife, Emma, and seems to have lived out his days with his daughter and her family. James' father, Ole, was also living in Sonoma with his new wife, Kittie, where the two of them remained until their deaths. Younger brother, Merton and his family also moved to the area at a later date, though it seems that Merton and his wife, Pearl, returned to Nebraska, both having passed away in the 1990's and interred together in Omaha.

Synopsis:
Obituary. Blair Newspaper. Aug 1934. Mrs. Elsie K. JORGENSEN Dies. Mrs. Elsie K.JORGENSEN, one of the original band of Danish pioneers who settled in the Orum community of Washington county 65 years ago, staked out homesteads and turned sod in what is now one of Nebraska's most fertile agricultural regions, died suddenly early Wednesday morning at her home on West Colfax street. Ninety-four years old, Mrs. JORGENSEN had been particularly active this summer and on Monday had visited her daughter, Mrs. Chester R. SUTTON, on their farm north of Blair. Feeling slightly ill upon her return to town, a doctor had been summoned by her daughter, Mrs. Anna SUTTON, with whom she lived, but at that time her condition was not considered serious. She was apparently resting comfortably at six o'clock Wednesday morning, Mrs. SUTTON says, and at seven o'clock she was found dead in bed. As a girl in Denmark, Mrs. JORGENSEN, from time to time, bid farewell to relatives and friends as they set out for the new world. Glowing reports of Washington county's farming region came back to the old country, so in 1870, Mrs. JORGENSEN, then Mrs. Peter JENSEN, and her husband joined the procession of JENSENs, LARSENs, HANSENs, RASMUSSENs and other imigrants [sic]. Times in Denmark were hard then. There was a constant depression among the peasants, but it was fortunate, Mrs. JORGENSEN always said, that the immigrants had been steeled from childhood to adversity, for upon their arrival in Lincoln township few had proper equipment to farm, few had any livestock and those who could afford houses even reasonably windproof were plutocrats. Her first house Mrs. JORGENSEN recalls, measured 12x13 feet, consisted of one room and was built of rough cottonwood lumber. Mrs. JORGENSEN's first husband died 43 years ago, while her second husband died in 1918. She is said to have had only one serious spell of sickness in her life. Surviving are four children, Mrs. C.R. SUTTON and Mrs. Anna SUTTON, both of Blair, Peter JENSEN, of Hennesey, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Mary BAKER of Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bendorf Funeral home and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
